Experienced Health Care and Corporate Attorney Caroline Patterson Joins Saul Ewing’s Chesterbrook Office

CHESTERBROOK, PA (January 31, 2024) – In joining Saul Ewing as a new partner, Caroline Patterson brings more than 25 years of legal experience to her work representing health care practices and industry professionals in transactional, corporate and regulatory matters. She is resident in the firm’s Chesterbrook office. 

Ms. Patterson’s experience ranges from providing counsel in mergers, acquisitions, sales and private equity investments to helping establish strategic partnerships and joint ventures among organizations. She also provides advice to health care organizations on compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and federal and state fraud and abuse laws, as well as drafts and advises on ownership and compensation arrangements and assists with employment negotiations. Investigators and clinical institutions also look to her for advice on clinical trial agreements and clinical research law.

Some examples of her recent deals include representing:

  • A three-doctor retina practice in Utah in a sale to a private-equity-sponsored platform for $15 million.
  • A gastroenterology practice with three locations in New Jersey in the sale of its assets to a hospital joint venture for $17 million.

Other types of clients who rely on Ms. Patterson for advice include health systems, management service organizations, life science and other health care consulting companies, dental practices, physical therapists, ambulatory care facilities, and individual health care professionals. Ms. Patterson is also an experienced corporate attorney who handles transactions for a wide variety of clients.

Ms. Patterson earned her J.D. from Villanova University School of Law. She also has a B.A. from Cabrini University.
