(BALTIMORE, April 29, 2024) Saul Ewing LLP announced today that Managing Partner Jason M. St. John has been selected as one of the Baltimore Business Journal’s 2024 Leaders in Diversity honorees The annual awards program recognizes those in Greater Baltimore who have shown exceptional commitment to advancing diversity and inclusion in the workplace and who are leaders in promoting equity across all areas of diversity. Jason and his fellow honorees will be recognized at an awards breakfast on June 13, 2024.

In nominating Jason for this award, Caren Ulrich Stacy, Diversity Lab CEO noted, “In 30 years of working in law firm and corporate talent development and diversity, I have only come across a small handful of leaders who are as action-oriented, persistent, and passionate as Jason when it comes to cultivating inclusive and equitable workplaces and communities. Even in the current DEI headwinds, Jason and his law firm have stayed committed to their values. If cloning leaders was an option, I’d start with him.”

Jason has long been a strong advocate for enhancing Saul Ewing’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. During his time on the Executive Committee, he served as liaison to the firm's Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee. He also participated in the Spring 2018 Diversity in Law Hackathon organized by Diversity Lab in partnership with Harvard Law School Executive Education. In addition, Jason is a key champion for Saul Ewing's pursuit of Mansfield Certification, a program encouraging law firms and corporations to build pipelines of historically underrepresented lawyers for consideration for key roles. The firm has received this recognition for five consecutive years and is pursuing Mansfield Certification again in 2024 – a commitment that illustrates Jason's continued support for the movement of more women and lawyers from underrepresented racial/ethnic groups, LGBTQ+ lawyers and/or lawyers with disabilities into significant leadership positions, lateral openings, inclusion on pitch teams, and promotions.

Before Jason moved into the firm's top executive role, he maintained an active legal practice focused on litigating complex, high-stakes commercial, contract, insurance and real estate disputes for business, insurance, and governmental entity clients in courts and arbitrations throughout the United States. He earned his J.D. from University of Maryland School of Law; an M.B.A. from University of Baltimore Merrick School of Business; and a B.S., cum laude, from University of Maryland.
