  • Representing a major public university in investigating and responding to preliminary findings made by the U.S. Department of Education as to the university's alleged violations of the Clery Act.
  • Representing several institutions responding to Office of Civil Rights compliance reviews and single-issue complaints.
  • Assisting two large public universities in proactively auditing policies and procedures for compliance with Title IX, VAWA and the Clery Act.
  • Providing onsite training sessions on Title IX, VAWA and Clery Act compliance for several universities and colleges.
  • Advising multiple institutions on regulatory interpretation questions and revising handbooks, policies and compliance programs to adopt agency findings, to adhere to relevant regulations, and to incorporate industry best practices. 
  • Serving as a fact investigator in response to student, faculty and employee complaints of misconduct.

Sexual Misconduct Investigations & Litigation

  • Defending a public university and a commercial youth karate school, respectively, in claims stemming from alleged sexual abuse of minor victims by employees.
  • Advising multiple independent K-12 schools facing allegations of historical sexual abuse by current and former employees.
  • Defending a university in a multi-plaintiff litigation involving claims of both employee sexual misconduct and institutional mishandling of sexual assault complaints.
  • Serving as a fact investigator in response to student, faculty and employee complaints of sexual misconduct, including alleged violations of Title IX policies.
