Jared Hawk is an experienced trial attorney who handles litigation matters for clients ranging from start-ups to product designers and manufacturers to large players in the energy industry. Jared’s courtroom experience includes successes in federal, state and appellate courts across the county in cases involving product liability, workplace safety, environmental and mass torts, and commercial disputes.
Jared serves as trial and appellate counsel for designers and manufacturers in product liability actions involving a diverse range of products, including metal slitting and processing equipment, recreational vehicles, children’s products, tree stands and other hunting equipment, forklifts, welding rods, fire extinguishers, heating equipment and controllers, and electrical switches.
He has extensive experience defending these claims on the merits, including serving as first chair in several trials, as well as implementing innovative defenses based on successor liability, idiosyncratic injury, and statutes of repose. Jared also represents facility owners and operators in cases stemming from workplace accidents that result in bodily injury and/or property damage.
Jared also has significant experience litigating mass tort and complex commercial cases, including claims for injunctive relief, breach of contract, force majeure, breach of warranty, nuisance, trespass, and violations of environmental statutes such as CERCLA and RCRA. In these and other cases, Jared has handled complex electronic discovery and expert examinations and challenges. Jared is also the Firm’s Force Majeure Litigation Team lead, where he guides a multi-disciplinary team of experienced litigators to monitor and study trends, decisions and laws relevant to force majeure and other contract-related doctrines.
Additionally, for more than a decade, Jared has focused on the representation of exploration and production companies in the Marcellus and Utica Shale plays, including litigation involving bonus payments and royalties, lease invalidity claims, alleged property contamination and health effects from oil and gas drilling and production activities, and joint operating and other development agreements. Jared has acted as both trial and appellate counsel in these cases, many of which were class actions.
