Justin Portaz is Saul Ewing's chief marketing and business development officer, leading the Marketing Department and driving the firm's growth by translating strategy into innovative initiatives that strengthen client relationships, elevate the brand, and expand market opportunities. 

With more than two decades of experience at AmLaw 100 firms, Justin brings a strong record of integrating core marketing and business development functions—including client engagement, communications, public relations, branding, marketing technology, client intelligence, events, and digital marketing—to deliver measurable results. His work is grounded in a client-focused approach that empowers attorneys and the professionals who support them.

As a trusted strategist, Justin partners closely with firm leaders on strategic planning, brand positioning, cultural alignment, and change management. He leads cohesive, data-informed strategies aligned with business priorities, including pitches, client listening and feedback initiatives, lead generation, and market-facing programs that drive revenue growth and deepen client relationships. 

A respected teambuilder, Justin fosters cross-functional collaboration across marketing, business development, and firm leadership to ensure consistency, accountability, and impact across all initiatives. 

Beyond the firm, Justin is a frequent speaker, moderator, panelist, and podcast guest on topics such as leadership, change management, collaborative culture-building, and client development strategies. He is a long-time member of the Legal Marketing Association and has served in leadership roles, including as president of the Los Angeles Chapter.
