Shivani Govani is a labor and employment attorney who represents employers in litigation and advises on compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws. Her practice focuses on defending claims involving discrimination, retaliation, and wrongful termination, as well as other workplace disputes. Shivani has experience litigating matters in state and federal courts, including jury trial work in federal court, as well as before administrative agencies such as the Illinois Department of Human Rights (IDHR) and the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). She also represents clients in alternative dispute resolution proceedings. In addition to her litigation practice, Shivani counsels clients on a range of employment matters, including workplace policies, employee handbooks, and employment and separation agreements.
While earning her J.D. at the University of Illinois College of Law, Shivani served as a law clerk with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio in Cleveland. She also interned with the Northeast Ohio Coalition for the Homeless, where she drafted a Homeless Bill of Rights presented to the Cleveland City Council.
