Casey Grabenstein

Casey Grabenstein handles complex commercial litigation and compliance counseling for clients nationwide across an array of industries, from alcoholic beverage and financial services to higher education and product manufacturers. An experienced trial lawyer and member of the Trial Bar for the Northern District of Illinois, Casey represents Fortune 500 and other major companies in jury trials and appeals at both the state and federal level. His litigation experience includes class actions involving securities, consumer fraud, and ERISA, including a case for a major university. He also handles litigation involving products liability, including serving as national counsel for multiple companies, breach of contract, and employment disputes. He also resolves disputes through arbitration, obtaining multiple awards on behalf of clients after successful arbitration hearings, and is recognized for his leadership and experience in this area through his role as chair of the Chicago Bar Association's Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Committee.

In addition to his litigation experience, Casey acts as general outside counsel for companies, particularly in the food and beverage industry. His work in this area includes assisting with licensing, developing compliance programs, and providing training to align operations with state and federal regulations. When licensing and compliance issues arise, he defends alcoholic beverage companies facing investigation and litigation. He also provides legal advice on contractual and business matters.

Casey has an extensive pro bono practice that includes getting a death sentence vacated for a Texas man on death row for eight years and obtaining asylum for a Tanzanian woman following an immigration trial. He also has handled numerous Section 1983 cases involving prisoners and arrestees.
