Don Lussier represents clients in complex matters involving a wide range of commercial assets across the United States, including real estate, corporate and commercial lending transactions. Clients appreciate his ability to efficiently identify the issues that really matter, and to find creative and practical solutions when challenges emerge. Don’s experience earlier in his career as General Counsel for Sawyer Realty Holdings LLC, a real estate investment and management company, helped develop these skills and hone his appreciation for what matters most to clients. Drawing on his in-house experience, Don advises clients on governance matters of all shapes and sizes, and has experience negotiating a variety of contractual matters.
In the real estate sector, sponsors, investors and lenders look to Don for representation on acquisitions, leasing matters, financings and dispositions, and advice on operational issues. He has experience with transactions involving virtually all asset types: multifamily complexes, office buildings and parks, industrial buildings, medical and life science properties, shopping centers, self-storage facilities, and hospitality properties including hotels and golf courses. Don also focuses on negotiating joint venture agreements between sponsors and private equity real estate investors, and in conducting private placements in connection with capital raising initiatives, primarily related to real estate acquisitions.
His work in real estate financing includes representation of both lenders and borrowers. He provides advice on bridge and permanent mortgage loans, construction loans, mezzanine financings and unsecured lines of credit. Don is also experienced in handling loan participations and syndications, and has guided both lenders and borrowers through workouts and debt restructuring arrangements.
