  • Successfully defended a jury verdict in two Ninth Circuit antitrust appeals for a major retail client, as well as the district court’s award of attorneys’ fees and costs.
  • Obtained a reversal of summary judgment in a Sixth Circuit appeal, allowing the technology company client’s breach of contract and unjust enrichment claims to proceed against a major electronics manufacturer.
  • Obtained a decision from the Eighth Circuit vacating a judgment of dismissal in favor of several institutional investors in an ERISA breach of fiduciary duty case against a major bank’s securities lending program. 
  • Represented a qui tam plaintiff in the first Minnesota Supreme Court case to interpret the Minnesota False Claims Act.
  • Briefed and argued appeals on behalf of a major manufacturing company and a regional business chambers challenging the Minneapolis sick and safe time and minimum wage ordinances on extraterritoriality and preemption grounds.
  • Obtained a decision from the Eighth Circuit reversing a grant of summary judgment in an employment classification class action regarding whether truck operators are independent contractors or employees under Missouri law.
  • Part of an appellate team that obtained a reversal and remand from the Eighth Circuit of a medical device multi-district litigation (MDL) relating to admissibility of expert witness testimony.
  • Primary author of briefing in a Sixth Circuit appeal, which resulted in the affirmance of the district court’s dismissal of a trade secrets case.
  • Lead appellate counsel in several high-stakes Minnesota family law disputes, involving antenuptial agreements, spousal maintenance, and legal name changes for minor children. 

Civil Litigation

  • Briefed, argued, and won a motion regarding injunctive relief in a non-compete litigation matter for a major medical device manufacturer.
  • Successfully pursued securities fraud claims on behalf of an institutional investor against investment banks and rating agencies relating to mortgage-backed securities.
  • Successfully litigated and resolved a breach of contract case in the health care waste industry.
