Overview

Minjae Kim counsels clients on the protection of their intellectual property, and litigates disputes related to trademarks, copyrights, and complex commercial claims.

Her intellectual property practice is focused on helping clients in the media, entertainment, and consumer goods and services industries with their brand protection initiatives. This work includes trademark prosecution and strategy, advertising and marketing clearance, publicity rights, licensing issues, and FTC considerations. Minjae also has experience litigating disputes regarding trademarks (including before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board), copyrights, patent infringement, advertising, and unfair competition.

In addition, Minjae maintains a broad civil litigation practice, assisting clients from pre-litigation investigation through appeal in complex commercial and tax disputes. She has experience drafting dispositive motions, appellate briefs, and critical pleadings in state and federal courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court. She is well-versed in analyzing lower court decisions to ascertain potential issues to raise on appeal. Minjae has also represented international companies and high net worth individuals facing government investigations.

Between years in private practice, Minjae served as a law clerk for the Honorable Patrick J. Bumatay in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Prior to joining Saul Ewing, Minjae worked at two international law firms in New York and Washington, D.C.
