Program Descriptions

CFPB Enforcement Update: Government Investigations and Consent Orders

This program will comprehensively address recent Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) litigation and government investigations, consent orders and enforcement actions that have material impact on consumer loan origination and servicing.

Navigate the Rise of Enforcement Actions on AI and Consumer Protection

This program will cover the increasing enforcement actions by regulatory bodies regarding AI and consumer protection. This presentation will examine the latest trends in AI deployment, highlight key cases of enforcement, and examine the implications for businesses and consumers. Attendees will gain insights into regulatory expectations, compliance strategies, and the broader impact of these actions on the AI landscape, including guidance and positions taken by prominent federal and state authorities, such as the Federal Trade Commission, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and the landscape of AI-consumer protection legislation.

Privacy Law Update

This presentation will cover recent developments in the privacy law landscape, including new state privacy laws and state enforcement actions. This presentation will also address the latest trends in privacy litigation, including a rash of class actions (and threatened lawsuits) over website data collection practices. Finally, we will address recent rulemaking by the CFPB relating to personal financial data rights.

Mortgage Servicing Case Law Review

The Consumer Financial Services Litigation team at Saul Ewing hopes that attendees at the Mortgage Servicing Case Law Review portion of the upcoming CLE Webinar will leave with a better understanding of the recent case law interpreting various consumer financial services laws. Specifically, the presentation will cover the duties and obligations related qualified written requests (“QWR”) from consumers, including the receipt and retention of the QWR and in what circumstances a consumer may bring a private lawsuit related to the QWR. The presentation will also cover the recent expansion of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act to cover convenience and pay-to-play fees in the mortgage and debt servicing industries.

Private Education Loans - What You Need to Know

This presentation will feature a review of legal and compliance considerations for private education loans, recent developments in federal and state loan, servicing, and cybersecurity regulations and enforcement, as well as the impact of the upcoming change in administration.
